Statement by Dr. Ada Cuellar on ICE Shooting of Another U.S. Citizen in Minnesota Saturday
ALAMO, TX - "Saturday's ICE shooting of a U.S. citizen in Minnesota was as unnecessary as it was chilling. As more videos from witnesses emerge it also raises serious questions, including why DHS is not being transparent, accountable, or truthful in their statements. I've said it before, we should be able to have law enforcement without violations of civil liberties, without violations of constitutional rights. What we're seeing from Minneapolis to Donna, Texas from ICE makes our communities less safe. And it's not just ICE, other federal agents are following guidance that disregards basic training and basic rights. What's going on now cannot continue, and we need members of Congress and in the Senate who ask tough questions, stand up to this Administration, and use the power of the purse and the power to authorize these agencies to drastically reform these agencies. Monica De La Cruz won't stand up to this Administration. I will."
