Statement by Dr. Ada Cuellar on Trump Rx Launch
ALAMO, TX - The Trump administration yesterday launched a website for patients to directly buy prescription drugs. Dr. Ada Cuellar issued the following statement:
“Donald Trump and Monica De La Cruz slashed healthcare, including Medicaid benefits, to pay for tax cuts for billionaires and to give tens of billions of dollars to ICE. Today’s launch of Trump Rx is a band-aid that doesn’t even begin to make up for the damage they’ve caused, and may not even lower drug prices for most patients. As an emergency room doctor, I regularly see the many ways in which the healthcare system falls short, whether it’s lack of access to affordable health insurance, or coverage that just doesn’t meet the needs of patients. On top of that, middle men and insurance companies drive up costs for everyone else. You don’t have to be a doctor to see the emergency. I’m running for Congress to fight for affordable healthcare, which means shoring up our existing system by extending ACA tax credits, reversing the cuts to Medicaid made in Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, and allowing every American who cannot afford a quality plan to buy into Medicare. We need to elect leaders who will fight for real solutions in the March primary, and in November.”
